Why do we tolerate murderous cellphone driving menace?

9 June 2010,

Sir,

I am enclosing the june, 4, 2010, neera marga, mangalore tragedy which could have been worse but for the intervention of Providence.

The driver was using a cell phone while driving.

You can get a pulse of the public by the appended comments on the concerned authorities do nothing attitude in this extremely serious matter

University of Utah finds that driving while using a cell phone impairs driving to the same extent as driving under the influence of alcohol and US road traffic authorities treat it as a similar violation.

I have repeatedly complained about this menace to you all. Yet nothing has been done.

Why oh Why cannot we learn from the others mistakes instead of

this blind and mindless worship of technology?

WISDOM IS THE ABILITY TO LEARN FROM OTHERS MISTAKES!

Now it is time the government woke up and took some really strong measures. to prove that it is proactive and cares for the welfare of the majority not the luxuries of the few undeserving.

1) Cancel the license of the driver with immediate effect, without any further exculpatory chances for him.

2) Increase the fine from the measly 100 rupees to the highest possible level to totally discourage cellphone usewhile driving.

I am attaching a few pictures to demonstrate how two wheelers violate this rule in residential areas because police are not around.

Even fourwheeler car drivers should not be spared because their driving is equally impaired, if not more so because many of them drive with all glasses tinted vehicles and drunk in addition, with blaring music. Virtually like the proverbial three monkies ,eyes ears and all vital required senses for safety on road powered off.

Such drivers do not need benefit of doubt or mercy.

Any such sympathy shown according to Hindu philosophy is a paapa as apaatra daana.-unbefitting donation which bestows sin on the donor.

Sincerely yours
