Donot parents foist their choices on the children?

if you are a student- you might have gone through it?- if you are a parent you might not see it at all.That is why we as parents are trying to point out. Nobody wants to kill themselves if they are pursuing their choice education love or work etc.
I am saying it as a parent who tried to avoid this trap of forcing our failed ideas and goals on to our children's shoulders.

Why is everyone blaming the poor parents. Isnt the loss of their child enough for them? I dont see any connection of the parents with the death of their son.

seems to me as a parent, that we tend to pass on our failed ambitions to the children's shoulders. We do not even seem to think for a moment how can they achieve what we could not? even if all the things we missed we made sure they got? dont they have their own ideas which need to be expressed? We try to live our lives vicariously through theirs resulting in this kind of tragedy.
