What can we do to improve Bangalore's Traffic Mess-LEDS28feb2007

With reference to Sharad Deshmukh's "Road Safety will Improve only with better Roads".
I would like to point out that improving roads, involves too many factors that are beyond our control.
Careful, safe driving is the only factor we all can do something about.
It can be practiced any where any time.
Best if it is obeyed all the time.
It can be easily taught and should be demanded from others.
This can happen when we, road users whether as pedestrians, drivers, passengers or bystanders assert such driving from those around us.
It can happen only when we are willing to become ears and eyes of law by reporting violations as and when they happen. That will only happen when we care enough about the deplorable way traffic is deteriorating around us.
The police are willing more than willing to act if we are.
DCP(Traffic) East pleads for complaints to act,(page 3 -100 autos booked for refusal to ply -22Feb2007)
The question is do we care?
Most of the violations take place on the almost absolute certainty that there are not enough police to check and no body complains.
It is upto us to change that equation.
Grumbling to each other is not action. Complaining to the authorities is.
Results flow from action.
We disguise our inherent indifference as " no time or very busy".
Random unexpected notices and fines are bound to dramatically boost the learning curve improve compliance.
That inturn improves road safety.
We donot need to wait for that some day for road conditions to improve.
We can make it here and now.
Let us remember Vivekananda "AWAKE, ARISE AND STOP NOT TILL THE GOAL IS REACHED".

In its peak it arousedSir Walter Scottish passionate patriotism,"Breathes there a man with soul so dead who never to himself hath said....." my love for my country is greater than my love for lucre(my own).The champion of the unjustly treated, Ram Jethmalani could have elected to save the nation by donating his "enormous talent" to the CBI, the nation and the populace who were the actual victims of the scam. Instead he defended the Hindujas? We, Bharatiyans by now I think are entitled to the obvious conclusions we can come to two decades later

I have complained about this query field several times earlier.
It seems to have been set up by someone who does not know what it is supposed to do or how.
Have you tried searching for the NATIONS CAPITAL in this query field?(SEE BELOW)

A wonderfully well made movie. If I have seen one "Indian" movie worthy of winning an Oscar on all fronts, it is Water. The Theme, Direction, Photography, Music, Acting, Screenplay are all of Oscar caliber. However it is grossly grossly unfortunate that our narrow mindedness and refusal to face realties did not permit making the movie in India.
What is worse I think the agitation against the movie was totally motivated for its news worthiness.
If any of the agitators were interested in pulling the country out of the ages of ignorance they would have actively assisted in the movie.The Government instead of being political about the whole issue should have protected and encouraged this movie during its making.
It would have been a powerful tool of mass education.
And use it create a wave of mass awareness in the society and hence aid its eventual transformation.I don't know when we ever will grow up and develop tolerance.

Understand the justifiable world criticism of our abhorrent practices.

I donot know when we as a society will ever grow up , and understand the defects in our system.

Use the world's justifiable criticism of our outdated and abhorrent practices as a stepping towards
change.
