Bikers beat up brigadier-IBN-20Sep2007

An extremely shameful act that reflects the lack of discipline, fear of law, gangsterism promoted by media glorifying such acts through movies. The Police should be extremely strict in punishing such gross violations of civilized society. It may not be correct to blame the parents for their grown up brats all actions. But they do have to take a major portion of the blame for the disrespect, disregard for laws of civilized behaviour their children exhibit. They must have provided them an atmosphere that condoned or even encouraged such behaviour. As I have found in my 35 years of study of human behaviou. Such attitudes prevail in people in business(read rich). They tend to justify all their disregard for laws as an obstruction to their right to earn money. Usually they provide a home environment where alcohol consumption is infact encouraged as a sign of being in the upper crust of the society. They fail to realize that it is the severe lack of self worth and low self esteem that causes them to seek solace in alcohol.

Ram sethu and the like-LEDS TOI-13 Sep 2007

Holding up traffic or disrupting daily life all over the country over Ramasethu or Babri Masjid is hardly an accomplishment that any party can be proud of.

Whether Ramayana, Ramacharitmanas, Mahabharat or Bhagavad gita are historical records or not according to legal opinion does not lessen their value.

Instead it is enormously enhanced, if we all were to activley use them to improve our daily lives and help us be better earthlings.

I am afraid that the saffron/orange/ red brigades modus operandi manipulating religious sentiments is extremely to India's identity and integrity.

What is more it is unworthy of a great religion like Hinduism, its home and its precepts.

The resources these parties have, instead can be better utilized to research, promote the extreme relevance and advantage of using this great philosophy's values in today's troubled world.

This best be demonstrated by setting example by practise.

Just like Mahatma Gandhi did.

Public can help out traffic police-TOI 19 Sep 2007

Public can help out traffic police This is with reference to ‘Switch off mobile before switching on engine’ (Sept. 18). According to research conducted by Utah University, using cellphones while driving is akin to driving under the influence of alcohol. Therefore, the police should implement the rule seriously. The authorities’ lack of will to enforce laws can be countered by the public. It can note down violators. They can in turn report it to the traffic police.
======================================================================

According to the University of Utah research, the recklessly endangering habit of driving while using cell phones is known to impair driving to the same extent as driving under the influence of alcohol .

Therefore the Indian Police should prosecute it as rigorously and equally grave offense.

The authority's lack of drive to enforce laws can be counter acted to a large extent
by the public.
It can be a regular list of the noticed violations to the relevant authorities.
We the citizens can do our duty by rolling the ball into the enforcer's turf.
Remembering the adage "our right is to work only and not to the fruits thereof" is a great incentive for us to do our mite.

Warning to rich kids-TOI 10Sep2007

A warning to rich Kudos to the Bombay High Court for punishing Alistair Pereira for causing death by reckless and irresponsible driving. It should be a message to the police and lower courts to be stricter in enforcing the law. I feel a harsher fine and suspended licence for 8-10 years beyond the rigorous imprisonment would have communicated a stronger message to such rich and arrogant youth, that they need to respect the society they live in.

Alistair Pereira case-Kudos to Bombay high court-LEDS 7Sep2007

Kudos to the Mumbai High court for punishing the rich brat Alistair Pereira for causing death and destruction by reckless and irresponsible driving.
It should also be a message to the police and lower courts to be stricter in enforcing the law.
As any eminently law abiding citizen, I feel a harsher fine and suspended licence for 8to 10 years beyond the rigorous imprisonment would have communicated a stronger message to the rich, arrogant and spoilt Pereira's and Nandas, that they need to respect the society they live in.
