unreasonableness of beyond reasonable doubt

http://www.wftv.com/news/28391868/detail.html

this system of beyond reasonable doubt appears so unreasonable when judged by a jury of impressionable peers. instead the bar of beyond reasonable doubt would be raised if it was adjudged by a wise judge with experience judging human nature. we would have a less homicidal society.

by the corrupt of the corrupt for the corrupt democracy

IF this country is under any illusion we are
laboring under a lincolnian "of the people, by the people for the people" democracy-

Mr Sibals recent statement "No future tie ups with civil society should dispel it as totally baseless.
After Sixty years of intense efforts in the eyes of the common man, it has succesffully resulted in an "of the corrupt, by the corrupt for the corrupt" society.
History itself should indicate after scandals of ex PMS and CJIs have hit us- whether these institutions should be under lokpal.
The government protesteth too much leading to much speculation!

honoring the corrupt punishing the honest

The plight of H M Farrooq (BM 26June2011)for exposing Sampangi's corruption is the plight of every whistle blower in this country accursed with rotten goondas /politicians.
This society honors the corrupt and punishes the honest.
The corrupt will be gloating and honest will be shaking.
Other than mass extermination of these corrupt the country has no chance of survival.

pathological liars distort reality to suit their world view

Casey Anthony typical sociopathic liar. distorts reality into a web of covenient
lies. so the reality should fit into her concept of her world. one
wonders whether such people are sane enough to stand trial. may be
not. that must be the next line of baez defense. however they are
surely capable of appreciating the punishment meted out-if any. they
will not show that so the society can feel caylees death was punished

public privacy paradox google's case needs rethink

Google's point of view is understandable. One fails to understand the meaning of privacy in public. When someone is out on the street- walking(pardon the pun) how can they be entitled to absolute anonymity? If they need it they should either be not out on the street or be in purdah. Why should the state or judiciary even try to enforce such privacy? We need to rethink public/private definitions and some of the public activities need to be excluded from privacy/anonymity protections offered by law.

solution to yeddy HDK oath wording problem

The problem of Yeddy HDK oath wording can be solved by the age old story of the Maharajah with two sons. He didnot want the sons fighting after his death. So he willed that the entire property be divided by the first son. The second son gets to choose which of the two he wants.
Following the same analogy, HDK should write Yeddys oath and vice versa.

CMs sanctifying hogwash in Lord Manjunatha's Presence!

http://www.deccanherald.com/content/170134/bjp-pay-cms-showdown-advt.html
This is a case of two CMs of Karnataka trying to sanctify their hogwash in front of Lord Manjunatha.
This is a gross insult to the citizens intelligence, violation of nations constitution and collective conscience.
This shows the low self esteem the parties suffer in terms of their own image and more importantly the power of their word.
It has long been proved untrue in the case of Kumaraswamy and his father when they failed in their promise to let BJP rule the second half.

This kind of shenanigans might have been acceptable in those days where there was fear of God in the speakers mind.
Now it is just an exercise to make a mute God an attestor to their crimes of omission and commission.
This tamasha should stop immediately

original slur was less insulting ?

This is with reference to the news item about Newzealand channel being fined for racial slur against Smt Dikshit Delhi CM.
Some times it is better to leave these things alone. This odd 2444 fine is a worse joke than the original slur is it not?
India has the habit of not being firm and demanding in such insults to its leaders. Example is President Kalam's search in India by Continental.
We are still fawning on continental a cheapo US airline instead of throwing it out of the country.

Channel fined for racial slur on Dikshit:
A New Zealand broadcaster has been fined NZ$2,444 for airing a racist joke about Delhi CM Sheila Dikshit last October during a discussion on the Commonwealth Games.

Compensating mental agony should be primary concern in a slow justice system

Paying the wrong person compensation for acquired land is outright criminality on the part of KIADB officials.
What is more shameful is the wronged have to keep knocking at the unresponsive official doors while the criminals thumb their nose up at the law and the lawful.
One fails to understand why one of the higher courts does not pass an obvious order, that in such cases, the guilty department first pays the rightful owner immediately and then goes about rectifying its mistakes legally or otherwise.
Otherwise courts need to take very seriously the mental agony of the lawful sufferer in the agonizingly slow process of law.
They should provide fair compensation by double or triple penalty for mental agony. In practice, courts tend to totally deny the torture. Or worse add insult to the injury it by rubbing in a 5000 or 10000 salt as adequate justice for the wounds inflicted.

Baba Ramdev detention shameful in a democracy

With Baba Ramdev's detention and central government's message to the civil society is clear.
It supports nay survives on carrion eating eagle politicians from all parties raping the nation.
What little sympathy it had at being cornered by Hazare and Ramdev one after another through the Gandhiji copy righted upavas satyagrah has evaporated with this move.
Honest citizens fail to understand how a method that got this nation its freedom from centuries of occupation suddenly becomes blackmail unfit for civil society.

I have been following the trial with great interest. This scheming, manipulating lying, irresponsible, mother who likely killed her daughter that was a thorn in her life style.
Besides that she betrayed and destroyed her family totally.

What is more she is totally ungrateful to the most tolerant parents-may be that was their fault?
The internet gives those of us interested in US jury system after reading perry masons, in far away India a live window.

Death penalty necessary in today's fearlessly shamelessly corrupt India

While I am no fan or follower of Baba Ramdev, I have to support his demand of death penalty for the corrupt.
It might be a barbaric punishment, but nothing else will deter the corrupt who have become rampant today.
