Karnataka State is "DUI"-Driving under Influence" TOILEDP23Nov2009

MY TIMES, MY VOICE

State is ‘driving under influence’

If the governor’s anguish and the article ‘After the drama, will the BJP’s box office run continue?’ (To The Point, Nov. 22) do not open the voters’ eyes, I don’t know what will. Karnataka is ‘driving under influence’. This is not in the state’s best interests. We cannot afford another election, nor is it worth it. Constitutional change mandating elections once in five years, and governor’s rule in case any party fails to muster a majority appear more essential now. This should increase politicians’ accountability more than the clamour for the ‘none of the above’ option on the ballot paper.

Greed is the order of the day now -TOILEDS16nov2009

Greed is the order of the day now
The article ‘Did double trouble spur the Reddys to grab the remote?’ by H S Balram (November 15) was thoughtful and timely. The trouble with this country is there are many who’ve never had lots of money in their hands. And when we elect them to public office, greed becomes their motto. They act as if there is no tomorrow or accountability.

It is Corruption of Power, we disguise it as Influence-11nov2009

It is a matter of National Shame that a murderer like Manu Sharma is released even for a day back into the society to party, rave and rant at the media. The fact is- irrespective of how loud, long and hard Ms Jayanthi Natarajan screams to protect Ms Sheila Dikshit the Delhi CM who allowed this to happen- this parole is a travesty of justice. The grounds provided were false and what is more the authorities who accepted these grounds knew they were false. The only excuse they may have had is they were not aware of the extent of Manu Sharma's disrespect and disregard for this nations laws. He has the experience manipulating the "system" from the day of the gory murder of Jessica Lal. Why do we call this force "INFLUENCE". Let us call a spade a spade. This is CORRUPTION, pure and simple. CORRUPTION OF POWER, CORRUPTION OF LAW AND MOST IMPORTANTLY CORRUPTION OF VALUES, What little we have left.

Unlawful MNS legislators suspended for 4 years-

India never ceases to surprise me. Pleasantly. Just when I had written off the rule of law prevailing, this excellent news of 4 Unlawful MNS legislators being suspended for 4 years sends a very good beware message to the others and these. It should teach them that they owe the electorate a responsibility for electing them. Even if they are unlawful or illegal they before getting elected, they need to reform. This is a good lesson for that provincial nation splitter Raj Thackeray also.
I hope courts will not stay this order under any circumstances.if suspended legislators are not counted as justice demands with, 4 candidates out of 13 should disqualify the party from getting its own regional symbol?

Hang corrupt politicians-LEDS 9Nov2009

9 Oct 2009,
The Editor
Times of India
Bangalore

Sir,
Madhu Kodas (we have them a plenty in different guises especially in politics) should sicken any Indian.
We should not tolerate such "Indians" who rape this country of 4 or 4000 crores and mock it by claiming I am innocent.

We need to remember the Chinese Minister Zheng who was executed for corruption in July 2007.
We need to urgently bring in such a prospective measure to drastically reduce corruption instead of wasting crores trying to provide " presumed innocent till proven guilty" quality of justice.
I do not see why any party, politician or Indian should have an objection to such a prospective legislation which would end corruption at one stroke.
The parties who he was part of should introduce such legislation.
When India was split into two by a penstroke why cannot not it be cleansed in one stroke?
