The lawyers who are supposed to be officers of the court knowingly derail the due process of law. The doctors who participated in this fraud are a shame to the profession. Ethical committees of the bar, medical council and the judiciary should take stringent penal action against such intentional acts to disprove the proverb law is an ass.

If income tax, house tax, pollution control violations can reverse the onus of proof from prosecution to guilty,
why cannot the same rule be applied to corruption and graft?
Just change the concept presumed innocent until proven guilty which is grossly being misused by all those in power to hang on to it to

Why is not the print media highlighting the illegality and lack of power and legal sanction to the FCS department in the whole messy exercise?
The connection is a legal contract between the Gas company and the consumer. and as such only the gas company can take it away based on credible grounds. only reason I can see is misuse of domestic gas. even then law demands justice and fair play.
The FCS interference will just mean serious trouble to all gas companies for denial and deficiency of service.
Gas companies beware. Customers may not be able to getaway with suing the trouble making FCS department for its failures, but they surely can get after the gas companies.

It is not sushilas case that her husband was not a wanted criminal. Why was there a 25000 rupees reward on his head? The character and back ground of the so called "victim" of fake encounter should be a mitigating factor in such cases for the police men.
Our criminal justice system needs overhaul. It is grossly unfair to the law abiding citizens that proven, repeated or prima facie guilty criminals are judged on the same standards that apply to law biding citizens.
Given the failure rate of prosecution and the pressure on the police to perform on the criminal front, one or two failures especially on rowdies and law breakers.
The police should be applauded for ridding the society of criminals better than the court system which fails usually.

Mr Harish Gowda as a seasoned IAS officer should know like the chief secretary did- who shot BSY's last ditch attempt to post his men in Lok ayukta-(BM 1 aug 2011)that the duty of the Administrative officers is to protect and insulate the citizens and uphold the laws of the nation from the vagaries of novice or one time only minister's vote catching enthusiasms.
If he does not then he would be failing in his basic duties of keeping the government lawful.

While officials play the blame game, it is the consumers who are getting ‘cooked’. These issues have irked consumers so much that they are questioning the entire process.

Bangalore Mirror reader M B Nataraj says, “After the failure in collection, handling and transfer of data by the department, officials are armtwisting consumers into going through the same exercise again. Linking an RR number, property/ration card number/tax paid receipt to the legality or otherwise of ration cards is grossly arbitrary, unjust, unfair and without legal sanction in the absence of any authority under law to conduct such an exercise to determine the legality of the ration cards, which appears to be the basic purpose of this exercise. We are entitled to demand better functioning and accountability by government departments.”
