anything manmade is tamperable

If you ask any autowallah whether the electronic meters are tamperresistant he will say they are easier to tamper than mechanical ones.

So we are underestimating Indian ingenuity in tampering, and kidding ourselves that latest in technology is also the safest. A dangerous path when you see the extent of electronica tamperbability be they data or bank accounts or secure government web sites.

The rule is if it is man made its hackable.

Pawar the politician incapable of decisiveness in ICC

.

from mbnataraj51 at 04:16, Aug 31, 2010

Mr Pawar a born Indian politician dilly dallying that investigation is still ongoing, is not capable of handling ICC decisively. Some criminals have to be presumed guilty until proven innocent. It is not so hard with the video evidence. ICC is losing a golden opportunity of regaining the lost footing, from carpet pulled out from under. No sympathy whatesoever, need be shown for the age or the quality of players involved. Of course pakistan should be banned to teach them a lesson and show the world that they are not essential for ICC or the world of cricket.

result of my sustained complaints?

very good move indeed. The fines imposed so far have been a joke. 300 for driving without license? or for wheelies. Recently as I was upping this crusade against wheelies in my area, two of them were killed when they took off into the air and crashed into a pole. No tears should be shed for them since they just killed themselves. They were indulging in such antisocial dangerous activities on densely populated school streets, while the children were going to school. Had such an accident happened at such times the toll would have been tragically more. Police should appreciate the reports of concerned citizens as a valuable assistance rather than as a nuisance highlighting their failures.

Newly-inaugurated elevated road near Electronic City has become a hot spot

Police to act tough on wheelies

Chethan Kumar, Bangalore, Aug 23, DHNS:

Having failed to effectively curb the wheeling by youngsters in the City, the Bangalore Traffic Police have now sought the help of the public to put an end to such activities.

"Next time you see a rider zooming past you with the front wheel up in the air, note down the registration number and call us," a senior police official said.

“Response'ability' dwells in our soul, make a difference," that's what cops tell citizens in the City. Unable to stop the youth from over-speeding and performing stunts on roads, the police have been creating awareness about over-speeding, drag-racing and dangerous driving among other things.

As places like Sarjapur road - once the 'mecca' of drag-racing and stunts -- Marathahalli, Jayanagar, BMIC roads and other popular havens are on the police checklist, such activities have reduced. However, the youth have found newer places to indulge in thrills.

One such place is the newly inaugurated expressway to Electronic City. With Rs 20 and Rs 40 (toll fee) for two-wheelers and four-wheelers respectively, this stretch of road - black and smooth - is turning out to be the place to be for 'wheelies' (riding on one wheel) and drags. With about eight km of road with little disturbance on one stretch, the bike and ability to ride are one's passport to perch oneself in the racers' pit. The road, which quietly did rounds in the racers' circles, is one of the preferred spots for eye-popping wheelies and opiating speed.

Police strict and cautious

Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic and Security) Praveen Sood admitted that the police have failed in completely stopping such activities. But, he immediately added: "We cannot have policemen everywhere.

We're an extension of the society and the society must co-operate and help us in identifying places this happens in order to curb them."

In fact, even last week the police had booked a case each in Basavanagudi and Malleswaram for dangerous driving and speeding. Sood added that this is not only a nuisance but also a cause of concern for the youth. "The next time you see somebody on a 'wheelie' or over-speeding, note down the number and please call the nearest station," he added.

Violators beware

The police have been taking over-speeding and dangerous driving seriously, and consider it a threat to the youth in Bangalore.

"We've been strictly instructed to file FIR and seize the vehicle every time we catch an offender for breaking the speed limit or for dangerous driving," said Vijay, a traffic cop. Generally, Rs 300 penalty is collected for such offences. Now, the police are filing the FIR and seizing the vehicle so that the parents are aware of their children's indulgence in such activities.

Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic and Security) Praveen Sood said: "We've taken this very seriously as it is a matter of concern. We want the parents to know that what their children are up to."

In fact, there have already been hundreds of cases where the cops have insisted that the parents appear before them to get the vehicles released.

"We make it a point to counsel parents before returning the bike, so that they too take additional responsibility," Sood added.

National shame thanks to paper pushers inefficiency

What a national shame, that sheer inefficiency  and stupidity on the part of the unconcerned ministry has to be defended by the minister as "Procedural delay".
All that we seem to have learnt from 200 years of British rule is effective cover up of actual facts in flowery english.
Unconcerned department because, there can be no question of Anand's nationality if he is holding a valid Indian passport whose authenticity is unquestioned. If it is, even then, it should be the home or external affairs ministry that should raise it not HRD. We Indians are experts at tracking the slightest Indian connection in any one famous. Many famous Indians are wary of acknowledging Indianness because of the lack of pride that Indian government routinely displays like this. Equally telling recent examples are  President Kalam
frisking  by continental airlines- the investigation still on 1 year 4 months later? and SIR NAIPAUL being asked to prove his Indianness!

Breathes there an Indian with soul so dead?

Breathes there a man with soul so dead? who never to himself hath said? am I an Indian?

born in India, brought up in India, studied in India, married an Indian, holding a valid Indian passport?

HRD ministry says not sure, procedural delay, wait a minute , wait 3 months, no question you are Indian!

This is what happens when discretory powers are used by those given it, only to push the paper to another desk instead of deciding here and now.

Autodrivers autocracy-21 Aug 2010

It is all fine to create new web sites for dealing with autodriver misbehaviour.

Ground reality is slightly different when you see and hear the experience of the , women, elderly and disabled with these auto devils.

The auto devils recent behaviour after the increased fare, crack down on illegal autos and public retaliation about their unruly ways, has become worse.

Recently my wife approached a policeman for help in getting an auto. He flagged down and the auto driver drove a short distance and demanded that she get down and take another auto.

When she refused, he most reluctantly came to the destination, spat almost on her and said if he had a bomb he would blast the police and public and all. She could not note down the number because it was in Kannada. Before the Kannada Rakshana vedike jumps in to demand that she learn kannada, many policemen cannot read kannada boards and Bhashabhimana should not be a means of criminal acts.

Just now my 80 plus year old aunts ended up paying 240 rs , for a ride from jayanagar to mahalakshmi lay out, because he confused them saying they had not given him the 100 rs note for the 140 rs ride( A ride that used to cost just 80 rs a month ago), and took 100 rupees more.

This auto did not have any display board, and such auto drivers who rob the elderly and women should be shot on sight.

ban honking- some apparent result!

Dear Sir,

This is with reference to my repeated pleas to authorities to spare Bangaloreans from the cacophony of illegal and uncivil misuse of horns loud or other wise. Also enforce supreme court mandated nosie levels to protect human health.

Todays's Times of india page 3 report "balring horns draw the ire of police" confrims my long standing faith in the Indian system of Administration. I have - against the prevalent general consensus and belief that nothing works in India- always been advocating that we do have a redressal system that works better than the western countries like USA. And this itme confirms my stand!.

Thank you very very much on behalf of 8000 people whose ears are irreversibly damaged with each honk.

Sincerely yours

M B Nataraj

Blaring horns draw ire of cops

TIMES NEWS NETWORK

Bangalore: Traffic police won’t be amused with blaring horns anymore — especially of trucks and private buses. During a two-day drive against vacuum horns, they have booked over 3,025 cases and slapped a fine of over Rs 2.95 lakh against them.

Besides, police have warned the vehicle owners to get these horns removed before August 31, failing which they will resort to removing these on their own.

Additional commissioner of police (traffic and security) Praveen Sood said both vacuum and air horns were prohibited.

“However, private buses and trucks use them. They will not use these horns in city limits. Once they cross Madiwala, Yeshwantpur or Kengeri on Mysore Road, the menace begins,” he said.

As per rules, any horn making sound above 80 decibels cannot be used in vehicles. The drive was conducted in places including Electronic City, Hesara Ghatta, Kengeri and Nelamangala Road.

Guptas should be ostracized-16aug2010

The hypocrisy of Anand Kumar Gupta likely accomplice of confessed murderer satish's father performing shivpuja is shocking and astounding. Religious rituals practised by such criminals and legal offenders be they politicians or VIPs gives a bad name to religion and is an insult to civilized society.

He and his son may escape gallows by unscrupulous manipulation of criminal justice system, but they will be judged and judged harshly by society.

Irrespective of what transpires in courts, they should be ostracized as liars and murderers. "Priyanka is serious and Satish is in a coma" indeed .

This method should be effective in Bangalore

Bangalore scofflaw traffic is worse than delhi. It needs stricter measures may be like this?

It is easy enough to institute and enforce. Please do so immediately and give relief to Bangaloreans.

Auto drivers Rowdyism

The rowdyism of autodrivers is becoming a serious menace because there is no swift retribution for their rowdyism.

There is no control on who can become autodrivers.

Like politics is the last resort of a scoundrel, as Churchill said, needs to be modified to autodriving is first and last resort of criminals.

The police and RTO should act swiftly and decisively.

Commercial license like auto taxi and lorry licenses should be revoked based on the road illegal and criminal actions and behaviour of the drivers.

Otherwise we Bangaloreans will allow our city's reputation to be hijacked and ransomed by these three wheeled rowdies.
